Naerwen watched the scene unfold before her curiously. Wondering what sort of plane he may be trying to see she slightly raises up in an attempt to learn if anything is actually visible in the "mirror" but remains behind the desk. A little bit of her excitement died when she saw the reflection of the room. Still hopeful she continues to watch the Archmage and the mirror waiting to see if anything happens.

Vulgrim scratches his nose, as he watches the magic unfold then looks at the mirror floating over the ground. Ever practical, he looks at it and gestures. "Impressive, but whot does it do?"

Cerulean eyes wide with amazement, Ayame followed the elf’s example and leaned as far as she could over to look into the “mirror.” She saw the reflection of the room, but what also amazed her was that the mirror was floating off the floor. Ayame crouched down to look under, and then glanced back up to the surface again. Every once in a while, she would also steal a glance at Erfryn to watch was he was doing.

As he watched the elements finally come together and the consolidate calmly into a silvery mirror, Trazish was in awe. It was dreadful and wonderful all at the same time. So much magick had been called in front of him, he had a hard time believing that it hadn't ripped the old man apart casting. Trazish had underestimated the Archmage.
Wondering the same thing as the dwarf as he stared into the mirror, Trazish waited to see if there would be an answer.

(OOC: Mith, if you wish to know more about Grumplestiltskin's contribution, I will need a Craft (Alchemy) and Knowledge (Arcana) check)Erfryn wipes perspiration from his brow, stretching briefly for a moment during the slight lull in action. Holding up his wand, he waves it slowly through the air in complex patterns; blue glowing glyphs and sigils, springing into existence in its wake, float slowly to land on the border of the "mirror." "What does it do, indeed," Erfryn muses with a slight smile on his face. "This is what I would call a 'Planar Observation Apparatus.' To put it more simply, think of it like a telescope that astronomers use to observe the night's sky." The Archmage pauses briefly and frowns with concentration, as he makes a vigorous motion with the wand to send an exceptionally complex sigil towards the upper left corner of the "mirror." "Looks a little different from a telescope, does it not?" Erfryn says with a bit of humor. "As I am sure you can see, this is more akin to a mirror or reflecting glass than anything else. There is one key difference, however. This Apparatus can absorb ambient energy that composes the various planes of existence and transform it into light; reflecting that light as an image we can see. Hence, one should be able to observe the Planes in our Universe as distinct entities; akin to how we can see meteors and moons high in the sky. Just think of the implications this can have on the planar sciences!" Erfryn explains excitedly, flourishing the wand to send another string of symbols floating. "Do the Planes have distinct boundaries? Do they orbit each other, like the moon orbits our land? What interactions do they have? The potential discoveries are endless! Astounding, I say, astounding! I cannot wait to see it with my own eyes! Actually, speaking of.....it should almost be ready....." The last sigil floats to the mirror, creating a continuous border of symbols around the Apparatus. They flare with blue flame, sending a powerful ripple across its surface. The Apparatus slowly changes to a black color, no longer reflecting the room around it. Nothing happens for a brief moment, until vague shapes can be seen coming into focus. Eventually, a sight beyond wildest imagination comes into view on the Apparatus. Mind-bending waves of roiling energy, swirling with endless colors and hues, appears on the Apparatus as they crash powerfully over unseeing currents and tides. Occasionally, distinct shapes can be made out; a crimson flame-shaped energy roars across the Apparatus' viewing window, a brilliant star made of the purest white floats gracefully along, and an enormous crystal glittering like a prism are just a few of the things that can be seen. Erfryn stands entranced in front of the display going on before him.(OOC: I need a perception check from anyone trained (i.e. has a rank) in any of the following skills: Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Planes), Spellcraft or Use Magic Device)(EDIT* OOC: Just realized everyone has at least one of the above skills trained. So...everyone make a perception check! )

Watching the fantastic scene play out before him, and listening to the bizarre but palpably exciting babblings of the Archmage, Grumplestiltskin found it harder and harder to maintain his aloof posture. Standing up on his toes, leaning heavier on the desk to get a better viewing angle, he moves forward a couple of steps, fixated on the Archmage and his 'mirror'.

Looking into the 'mirror', Trazish say as shapes moved in and out of view. Listening to the Archmage, it was almost too hard to believe that what he was looking at was indeed what the old man had said it was. Trazish had been taught a little about the planes, but the only one he had been overly educated in was the Boneyard. Nevertheless, Trazish wasn't sure how much he wanted to learn about the other planes or how close he really what to look into them with.
Knowing that he still had a job to do, he looked closer into the 'mirror' and tried to see if he could see anything interesting.

As she continued to watch the Archmage arrange his symbols around the mirror her ears slightly perked up as her interest and curiosity took over. When the shapes began to take form Tiriel slightly tilted her head to the side as she tried to understand the scene before her. Naerwen briefly glanced over at the others and then returned her attention to the swirling whorls of energy and shapes in the mirror.

Ayame watched as shapes began to form on the surface of the mirror. Leaning forward to get a closer look, she balanced in the edge of her fingers and toes. She watched, hoping to find out more about the shapes.

(OOC: There were enough successes on the perception rolls from everyone. The knowledge/spellcraft results will be sent individually on facebook. Here is what you notice....)After observing the Apparatus for a moment it becomes clear that amongst the constantly changing surface, there is one image that seems to become more consistent and pronounced. An amorphous purple shape, with a set of piercingly sharp eyes, takes up the lower corner of the mirror. Burgeoning almost imperceptibly, this shape almost appears to realize that it is being watched. (Erfryn Perception: [dice=20] + 5) "Hmm....that is rather unusual. The Apparatus should be undetectable by any method," Erfryn mutters to himself as he notices the growing shape in the reflection. With a swift gesture, he "zooms" in to enlarge the viewing area; bringing the shape into further focus. This reveals a barely humanoid figure, wreathed in a roiling purple mist, with long razor-sharp claws and fangs. The Archmage leans a little closer to the mirror, squinting his eyes as he tries to gather more detail regarding what is in front of him. The figure in the reflection does a similar reaction, almost as if it is observing the study directly as well."Impossible. Whatever this is should not be able to see us, unless I made a miscalc-" Erfryn begins. He abruptly stops, and begins weaving a complex gesture frantically. The purple figure in the Apparatus now has an evil grin on its "face," as several tentacles attached to itself had been subtly tapping on the mirror's surface. Several loud cracking sounds resonate throughout the study, as it becomes apparent that somehow this being is attempting to break the device. Before Erfryn can finish his gesture, an ear-piercing screech rips through the air as a tiny fracture appears on the Apparatus' surface. A purple tentacle lashes through it, reaching out over the circle. It withdraws back, leaving a swath of scintillating purple energy floating in the air. With a sharp, unintelligible command, Erfryn finishes his spell and seals up the crack on the device.
Scratching his head as he inspects the mirror for any further damage, Erfryn turns around to check on the other individuals in the room, his eyes widening as he does so. "Watch out! Something is going wrong!" He shouts with warning, as the purple energy lashes out on its own accord towards the floating eyeball recording the experiment. It connects, causing it to shimmer with the purple light. Another ear-rending screech sounds out, as the eyeball begins to grow explosively, sprouting tentacles and claws in every direction. It hisses menacingly at everyone in the room, saliva dripping from its now gaping maw.(OOC: I will need initiative rolls from everyone. From his spot at the desks, Trazish looked into the 'mirror' and kept noticing the odd figure that seemed to follow no matter where the scene changed. Finally, as the Archmage took a closer look at the being and the being looked back, Trazish braced himself for the worst.
As the 'mirror was broken and repaired, allowing the purple smoke to fill the room and infect the eyeball, Trazish readied himself to fight.

As Naerwen watched what was happening in the mirror the hair on the back of her neck stood up and she had a feeling that things weren't going as planned.
She slightly winced at the ear-piercing screech and her eyes grew wide when the mirror cracked and the tentacle slipped through.
As the creature formed she instinctively went for one of her weapons. Since the creature was across the room she figured the bow would be most useful without having to move closer to the beast. In the back of her mind thoughts raced, and she wondered if destroying the mirror would keep other things from coming through. Naerwen hoped the Archmage had a plan. She contemplated using one of her spells or shifting. Since the creature appeared to be at least somewhat magical and may know how to deflect such attacks she readied her weapon instead aiming for the eye. Tiriel's feathers ruffled as she realized existence of the creature.

Vulgrim frowns at the eye as it does things to the mirror. At the resounding Crack as the mirror breaks he staggers back, grasping his smiths hammer, attached to his belt, and hefting it in his hand.

The hairs rose on the back of Ayame’s neck as she watched the shape in the mirror eerily watch them. As the creature smirked, she inched forward slightly wondering what it was about to do. She did not have to wait long before the creature’s tentacles shot toward the mirror and tried to pry it open. The horrible shrieks and cracks resounding from the magical device made Aya clamp her hands over her ears as she continued her observation. It was not until the slimy limb burst through that she realized just how dangerous the situation might become.
“Well, smelly socks and a hole in my hat, this is not going to be fun…” she muttered as she watched the eye began to morph.
