As Trazish waited on the others to decide what they were doing, he took a look around the room, eyeing the shelves, the desks, and the floor to see if the Archmage had left any clue as to where he wondered off.

After spending a few moments looking around the foyer, a slight sparkling powder can be seen glinting in the purple light from above. Closer inspection reveals it to be the silver powder that the Archmage used for his protective circle, which he probably got all over his feet during his swift exit from the room. The trail of powder leads out the foyer, in the direction of the front gate into town.

The dwarf heads out from the Tower, leaving the group gathered around the "part-elf" as he looks around the foyer intently. The farther the smith travels from the Tower, the less ominous the throbbing purple glow from the top of the structure becomes; until it merely appears as a faint glimmer in the distance as he reaches the front gate of the Academy. Travel is swift, as the crowds of students and other individuals are conspicuously absent at this time of day. Turning towards the Strategist's Square, a lone dwarf can be seen leaning against the entry to the smithy, his arms folded across his surcoat as he stares out into the distance in the direction of the Wizard's Tower.

Vulgrim jogs up to the smithy, catching the eye of the other dwarf.
"Ach, sorry Sir. Had an appointment around lunch, as you may remember, and time flew by after that. I really meant to be back sooner than this, but I could make no better time than I did, I promise." Vulgrim removes an iron key from the inside of his vest, using it to unlock the smithy. "I'll have yer money in a moment."
Vulgrim walks to the back of the forge, the dimly glowing embers of the forge illuminating the room a bit. Taking a small key off a thong about his neck, he opens a lockbox behind the counter and puts together the requested tithes. Wrapping them in a bit of spare cloth, he walks back to the door, where the tax collector is waiting. He passes the fee over to the dwarf with a nod. "Here ya are."
Vulgrim nods to the dwarf. "Do ye be needin' something else? If not I really must be getting some things and headin' on me way."
[OOC: Pausing for NPC interaction, but otherwise Vulgrim will suit up and head back to the tower.]

Once they reached the bottom the tower and everyone else had introduced themselves, they turned to Aya to see what she might know of the Sage. With a slight giggle and scratching the back of her head, she looked at them all hopelessly.
“I have absolutely no idea!” she laughed hesitantly, “I assume he may have left some way to discover his whereabouts though.”
As she spoke, the goat from before came charging to her side. On his back was a pack of saddlebags and a traveling bag while his teeth clutched a long rod. Ayame reached out and scratched his head as thanks.
“I am Ayame, by the way, but you all can call me Aya. This here goat is Dumbles.”

The tithe-collector takes the tribute, quickly counting it in a matter of seconds with practiced ease. In a fluid motion, it disappears into a hidden pouch beneath his surcoat. He pounds a fist solemnly on his chest in a dwarven gesture of farewell, and turns to leave. The dwarf hesitates briefly before leaving the smithy, turning back to Vulgrim.
"Somethin' is brewin' over in th' distance, a danger like none I've seen before," the dwarf says, glancing out into the skies beyond the smithy. "I be leavin' this town as fast as these legs can carry me, I would reckon you should consider th' same. If not, may the mountain's strength hold ye steadfast, clan-brother. Come to the Wyrmdown camp to the east, if you be in need of any assistance from back home. Farewell..." he says seriously, before leaving swiftly in the direction of town.
.......................................................................................
The goat lets out a loud "baaah" as it is introduced, moving behind Ayame after she is finished. It nervously butts her with its head repeatedly, as if it does not wish to remain in the vicinity of the Tower for much longer.

Dumbledore nervously butted Ayame. He began to let out a series of bleats and reared up slightly. Ayame listened and nodded. Turning back to the group, she repeated what Dumbles had told her. “I suggest we get out of here soon. Dumbles is feeling rather off by this whole mess with the tower and something doesn’t sit right with him. If we want to find out where Master Erfryn has gone, I suggest we hurry and then make our way out of town. I don’t think that tower will hold that beast forever.” Suddenly it dawns on her that Dumbles would have been outside the tower when her master ran down. Looking back to Dumbles, she asked, “Did you happen to see which way Master Erfryn went?” (OOC: Ayame can speak with her goat and understand it: www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/witch/witch-s-familiarAlso, not sure if I should roll for anything...let me know if I do)

Vulgrim watches the dwarf as he heads off, turning back inside. "Torag be with ya... And me. I suspect I'll be needin' all the help I can get."
Vulgrim closes the door behind him, going to the back of the smithy where he keeps his things. He opens a rather large oak chest, sitting at the end of his cot, and extracts a masterful hammer. It gleams in the torchlight, and seems to flicker a bit of its own accord. After that, Vulgrim extracts the pieces to a set of full plate, as well as a tabard, and begins the process of putting it all on. Being satisfied with the way the pieces are fit, he reaches in a pulls out a pack. Checking to see that its in good order, he walks about the shop, putting away some things he may need later, lastly attaching a bedroll.
Shrugging his pack over his shoulders, he picks up a large steel shield that was leaning against the wall with a cloth thrown over it. Torag's Hammer is embossed on the front, and, while having a few scratches and a dent or two in it, still shines.
With all his gear gathered, Vulgrim seats a winged helm on his head and walks out the door. Locking up, he heads back to the academy to meet up with the rest of the party and look for their rogue mage.

Rushing down the stairs, Grumplestiltskin keeps pace with the taller figures ahead, only a turn of the spiral stairwell behind due to the time lag in the tower room. Bursting into the foyer, he finally slows to meet with the tall young fellow and the dwarf.
He looks out the doorway at the calm and relatively empty campus and up at the unsettling purple light in the tower, as the others make their introductions.
"Grumplestiltskin's the name," he says, "though ya don't have to say the whole thing. And you, Trazish, owe me a decent piece of cheese." The tan-skinned, disconcertingly young-looking halfling looks up at him seriously. "If we're gonna be dealing with more... things... I'm gonna do it on a full stomach."
He nods to Vulgrim as the dwarf heads towards town. "There are a few things I'm gonna need, too. But we can't wait here. If Naerwin is going to the wood, we should collect in the Layman's square. Someone can watch the town gate for the Dwarf when he returns."
"In the meantime, we should make it as difficult as possible for anything to leave the tower. Ayame, do you have a short length of rope and hammer - or something cheap and heavy - in those bags? I've got an idea."

The goat looks quizzically at Ayame as it tries to remember what it saw before.
(OOC: Ayame, please make a Perception check using Dumble's Perception skill value to see if he saw anything)
While the goat thinks about what it saw, he trots over to a unassuming cabinet off to the side along a wall. He backs up and charges the cabinet, butting its head into its door solidly. The goat moves to the side, as the cabinet door swings open and several items fall out of it. Closer inspection reveals these items to be a length of rope, hammer, and other objects the halfling could use. The goat then moves back to Ayame to ponder what it saw.
(OOC: If Grumple would like to set up a trap, make a Craft (Trap) check. This can be done untrained, if you do not have skill ranks)

Naerwen shared the same sentiment as the goat in terms of leaving the area. As the halfling mentioned meeting in the Layman's square she agreed. She asked Grumplestiltskin what his idea was and if she could be of any help before she left.

"I'd like to rig a quick trap on the tower door. I don't have many of my reagents with me, but I do have enough to make a loud bang and a bit of an explosion. It should cause some damage to any monsters that come through, and more importantly, will give a good loud warning to anyone nearby."
Pausing, as if in thought, he looks up after a moment. "Anyone know if there are any other people in there?"

(OOC: If I understood this right, I can use my skill rank to help him along. He has a Int of 8 with a +1 being a goat [total=9], giving him no modifiers?, and then the +2 of my skill rank. If this is not the case, I'm srry, but just let me know what I should fix. Also, sorry this took so long)

Naerwen replied to the halfling, "I don't know much about potions, but I do have a bit of experience in rigging simple traps. I can lend a hand before I give a quick dash to the wood."
(OOC: assuming he wants help and I'll need to make a craft check I'll go ahead and do that to save time. P.S. sorry about the delayed reply.)

Naerwen is able to assist Grumple with his efforts to construct a trap for unsuspecting monsters that may escape from the Tower.[/i]
(OOC: Mith, you may rig the trap to detonate an alchemical splash weapon that you have available. Unless you have the discovery "Delayed Bombs," you won't be able to use your alchemical bombs for the trap.)
The goat recounts his tale from earlier on in the day, mostly focusing on a rather delectable section of grass he found near the Wizard's Tower. Beyond that, he did not see the Archmage as he left.
(OOC: Ayame, the Perception skill relies on Wisdom rather than Intelligence; though the Perception skill for goats is still +0. FYI.)
As the elf and halfling finish setting up the trap, the dwarven smith makes his way back to the Tower. The purple light above has grown in strength, now becoming even more visible in the darkening sky.
