Vulgrim scratches an eyebrow as he shoulders his pack after righting tables and listening to the tale. "I suspect we should head off to the temple. I'll be wantin' te talk to the priest, and if th' mage is there we should see to 'im."

"Fine with me - I think our friends in the forest might be very interested in hearing what the Archmage has to say for himself. If he can be moved, I say we escort him out of town."

After seeing a general consensus, Sarna nods her head in agreement.
"I sssee. I....have ssssomething to assssk offff you," Sarna hisses, leaning in closer as she lowers her voice. Glancing once backwards at the kobold amusing himself in the corner, she turns back to the group. "You may fffind it sssstrange, that a ssstranger asssk a fffavor offf you. I would be eternally in your debt iffff you would take Deekin with you. He isss rather dear to me, and I do not know ifff we could keep him sssafffe here," she says with a pained look. "You all look more than capable to protect him fffrom harm, more than ourssselvesss and the ussselesss town guard. Pleassse, would you do thisss for me?" Sarna pleads as Deekin wanders over to stand next to her, looking at the party with a curious gaze.

Looking at Sarna and then at Deekin, Trazish looked back at the rest of the group. "This is up to you. My mission was to find out what the Archmage was up to and now, with this fiasco, it is to try and stop any more wanton death by the Corruption. If you think we can protect him, then I'm ok, but I don't want carry him around if all he's going to do is slow us down and end up Corrupted."

Somewhat confused as to why Sarna would think it safer for Deekin to travel with them instead of remaining at the Inn Naerwen looked between the two as she thought. She hesitantly asked Sarna, "What if we are unable to protect him? If we do choose to take him along we cannot promise for certain that he will be safe. We may run into more danger along the way." She paused for a moment more of thought. "If we do agree to take him I want to make for certain that he wants to go as well by his own will. Otherwise it would provide an inconvenience to both him and us. He would have to be able to keep up and help out as much as he can. Even we don't know what we will run into." She glanced around to the others attempting to gauge their reactions. Finally, her gaze rested on Sarna once more in wait of a reply.

Sarna smiles as she looks down at the kobold for a moment. "Oh, Deekin can take care of himsssselfff fffrom time to time. He had been wandering around the wildernessssss of the Ridgebacksssss by himssselfff for a week beffffore I fffound him. That, perhapsssss, isss a sssstory he can tell another time," she says. The inn-keeper's wife bends down to be level with the kobold. "Would you like to go with thesssse people, Deekin? They're adventurersssss, they could ussse a good bard to tell their tale. What do you think about that?" she asks.
"Deekin could be helpful to peopleses with goat?" the kobold asks; to which Sarna replies sadly with a smiling nod. With a joyful chattering noise, Deekn does a small dance around her. "Deekin is excited to sing epic songses of adventure and goatses, oh yes!" it chatters, and dives back into the booth it had been sitting in previously. A flurry of activity can be heard from the booth, with quills and various objects flying into the air, occasionally punctuated by the twanging of a jostled mandolin. Sarna uses this distraction to speak privately to the group again.
"I have thisss fffeeling that worssse will befffall this town, that nowhere will be sssafe. With all of you, I think he will have a better chanssse with a group of able adventurersss than here at the inn," she whispers. "I am sssure that he will be offf ssssome ussse to you. And when he sssingsss...." Sarna trails off, a dreamy misted look coming over her briefly. "He hassss a gifffft that cannot grow while trapped in thisss plasssse. Pleassse, will you give him thisss chanssssse?"

Naerwen can't help but let a small smile escape as she sees the Kobold's enthusiasm, but it fades quickly as she thinks of the current chaos. She gives a solemn nod and pauses for a moment. "I can't speak for the group as a whole, but as for me -I think I would be ok with taking him along." She glances around at the others waiting to see what their preference is.

"Can't say I'm terribly fond of the critter yet," Grumplestiltskin says, "but I can empathize with a little trickster who needs to get out of town for awhile." He grins.
"Speaking of the uselessness of the town guard, though - the barricades they're putting up at the Academy won't last a minute. The monster that came through into the tower blew off the Archmage as easily as if it was playtime. I'd recommend getting everyone you can out of harms way as quickly as you can. If not out of town, then into a deep cellar."
Grumplestiltskin hops out of the booth and begins making his way to the door. After only a few steps he stops, turning back to the rest of the group. "Before we go, do you have any cheese? This reckless young man owes me a decent lunch," he says, pointing at the half-elf.

Ayame jumped around with a grin on her face when she heard that Deekin was wanting to join their travels. Dumbledore joined her and hopped in a circle around the Kobold, bleating and thrashing his horns. The pair was already quite fond of the reptilian bard. Turning to the group, Aya used her small stature and childish features to conjure up the classical puppy-dog eyes of any child who dearly wants something.
“He can join us, nee? Please, please, please, he can join? We really like him!!!” she pleaded as her large eyes threatened to tear.
(OOC: ‘Nee’ sounds like ‘neigh.’ Just in case anyone was wondering…)

Vulgrim shrugs at the group. "I donnae mind if he tags along. I have no quarrel with 'im." Vulgrim stretches and yawns, clanking a bit as his armor settles. "Known some Kobolds in my time who were right pleasant company. They don't tend to hold their mead though."
"I suppose we should be on our way soon. Iffin' the Archmage was afflicted by something tha' the temple couldn't fix I would like to talk to him before he passes."

With a look of gratitude and relief, a small tear glimmers from the corner of Sarna’s eyes. It quickly passes as Deekin surfaces from his rummaging in the booth, now laden with an over-stuffed pack and its mandolin slung over its shoulder. As it returns, her manner becomes brisk and business-like.
“Deekin, you have everything packed? Anything you have fffforgotten? Did you remember to bring Tymo?” she asks in a mothering fashion. Sarna hovers around him as she double-checks his pack, while Deekin holds aloft a small stuffed-animal made to look like a white dragon. Patting him on the head, she dashes off through a swinging door behind the bar. She returns a few moments later as the kobold puts away his toy; carrying loaves of bread, cheese, and dried meats in her arms. “We can’t have you traveling on an empty sssstomach, can we?” Sarna asks, somehow managing to stuff food into the kobold’s pack. She passes out food to the rest of the group, with the halfling somehow managing to end up with a rather large amount of cheese. The inn-keeper’s wife then bends down to embrace the kobold, who accepts it with a rather embarrassed mien, as she whispers some words of encouragement to the creature. Standing, she turns to the party. "Don't let me hold you up any longer. You will alwayssss be welcome iffff you neeed a plassse to ssstay the night in town!" she says, wishing the group luck on their journey. Sarna resolutely turns to head behind the bar to tidy up, snapping at Flog to continue cleaning.
(OOC: The party has gained Deekin as a NPC companion! He will follow the party and assist in combat, as well as contribute to RP as well. His information, as much as is known by the party, is posted in the "Character Sheets" section of the forum. Additionally, for achieving this, everyone gains 200XP for the RP.)

Deekin turns to the group, chattering excitedly.
"Deekin is ready to go bravely forth, oh yes! We go to Temple for important gnome, yes?" he asks.
Knowledge (Local): [dice=20]+9
"Deekin know short-cut, oh yes! Found it when deliver secret note from mean-half-orc man, very quick! Adventurers want to use it?" Deekin offers.

Vulgrim, stuffing an errant loaf and wheel of cheese into his pack, shrugs. "Works for me. Ye' all herd my input on gettin' there fast."
He shrugs the other strap into place with a clank and moves to the door.

"Well, this works for me," said Trazish as he gathered his things. Placing the food into his pack, Trazish saw how Sarna was caring for the kobold and he thought about his own mother. Turning to her, he said, "Don't worry. He will be fine. I will see to it that he will not have to meet the Lady of Graves for long time."
Walking up to Deekin, he said, "Well then, let's head to that shortcut of your's."

Naerwen thanked Sarna for the food and packed it away safely with the exception of a piece of dried meat, which she popped into her mouth.
She gave a slight shrug when the shortcut was mentioned. Tiriel flew over to land on Naerwen's shoulder and flapped her wings a couple of times as if saying she was ready to go.
